Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Appax ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects the personal information of visitors and prospective clients. It is written with the South African Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA") in mind. If you are visiting from outside South Africa and have additional rights under your local law (for example, GDPR), those additional protections apply alongside this policy.

1. Who we are

Appax is a Johannesburg-based technology consultancy. You can reach our information officer at hello@appax.co.za.

2. What we collect

When you submit our contact form, we collect:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number (optional)
  • Your company or organisation (optional)
  • The service you're interested in
  • The free-text project description you provide

Our web server also logs standard request data (IP address, user-agent, timestamp, requested URL) for security and diagnostic purposes. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on this site.

3. Why we collect it

  • To respond to your inquiry and discuss potential engagements.
  • To keep records of our correspondence with you.
  • To improve our services based on what prospective clients ask about.

We will not use your details for marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in to receive them.

4. Lawful basis

We process your information based on your consent (given when you submit the form) and our legitimate interest in responding to legitimate business inquiries.

5. Who sees it

Your information is sent to our internal inbox and is seen only by Appax team members directly involved in responding to inquiries. We use reputable email and cloud providers as data processors; we do not sell or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. How long we keep it

Inquiry records are retained for up to 24 months from your last contact with us, after which they are deleted unless we have entered into a contractual engagement (in which case standard accounting record-keeping periods apply).

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete it.
  • Object to our processing of it.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

To exercise any of these, email hello@appax.co.za and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies

This site does not currently set tracking cookies. If we add analytics in future we will update this policy and add a cookie banner.

9. Security

We protect your information using industry-standard measures including HTTPS for all form submissions, encrypted email transport, and restricted access to inquiry records. No system is perfectly secure, but we take proportionate steps to protect what you share with us.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent change.
